Hudson's Malamutes - Frequently Asked Questions
2. Why do you constantly talk about your spacious kennels? Does it make a difference?
Yes, indeed it does make a difference.
Dogs are happier with more space to run, play, eat and sleep. With enough space, dogs aren't stressed and don't get aggressive over space and food.
Aggressive dogs pass on that aggression to their puppies, just as non-aggressive dogs pass on that trait to their puppies.
A 10'x10' kennel with 2 to 3 dogs on concrete, in the sun is going to produced stressed dogs, competing with each other for food, space and places to eliminate. This is not healthy for them.
My dogs have space so they don't compete for food or space or places to eliminate (which at our kennels are cleaned up promptly - something drop-in visitors comment on always)
This means my dogs aren't stressed and aren't treated like commodities to be used and sold.
My dogs are treated as the living beings they are, with love and respect.
My pups come into the world without without the additional stress that cramped space creates.
It's better for them
It's better for you, the prospective owner
Does it cost more than cutting corners? It sure does, but that is the difference between a responsible breeder and an irresponsible breeder.
