Bar - A dark area extending from the center point of the cap down the nose.

It's been many terrific years with my big girl but unfortunately today I had to put her down. Kina was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. She had a tumor in her front left leg and the xray was definitive. She has been limping for about 2 months and initially we had tried steroids thinking it was arthritic changes as she is nearly 8 yrs. old. My worst fears were confirmed. The vet suggested amputation, steroids, and pain meds as paliative treatment only and gave her 3 months. I made the painful decision to euthanize her and it is killing me right now. She has been the best pet. She loved the water, lakes, hiking, snow, you name it as you well know, these dogs are the best. The vet commented she's the best behaved malamute she had ever seen. I switched to blue buffalo food a few years ago to trim her down as she got older. Despite losing some weight, she tipped the scale at 101lbs. Here are some final pics. Thank you for the best dog of my life. I miss her so much already.

just wanted to send you some pics of Kina. She's now a two year old and still so much fun. Still crazy and active. Not showing signs of settling down.. she wants to GO all the time. She's now bigger than our other mal. time for another baby... just kidding. enjoy the pics.

Hi Joleen,
Our little girl is now 10 months old and weighing in at 87 lbs...I switched her to diamond brand and started feeding her what and when she wanted and she's put on 17 lbs since last vet appt a few months ago. she's just about as tall as the Monarch but still needs filling out in legs etc.... we think she looks alot like her Dad, Thumper with just some slight tints of red most evident in the sunlight behind her ears from her mom. hope all is well with you...take care...

Hi Joleen,
Thanks for all the great work you've done on the website. It's a joy to see pics of our girl as well as all of the other mals. Let me tell you how much fun it was being pulled by Kina and Monarch in petsmart after their grooming yesterday. They were both excited and seemed to flaunt themselves around the place. Of course I love it when people call them huskies,, just another excuse to educate on the difference. My son's friends just call Monarch a polar bear. I truly wish I could get a few more pups. I'd love to get a red one next...Unfortunately the car is too small and the husband won't even consider it. I'll just love and cuddle the ones I have now. Kina doesn't like to cuddle too much cuz she's always busy digging, chewing, running, and all of that other fun puppy stuff. she doesn't ever seem to stop. it's still like having a toddler around.

Hi Joleen,
just wanted to send you another pic of Kina. she's now 8 months but this pic was taken last month. she's hanging at around 70 lbs now but also just got over an intestinal bug which we treated with antibiotics. anyway, she's crazy, always busy and moving around, filled with a wacky personality and we just adore her to pieces. She has definitely let the other dogs know that she's in charge and spends her time hanging, literally, around their necks. This was a rare photo with the other mal, Monarch on the left. take care.

We absolutely adore her and can't imagine not having her. What a personality! Our older shepherd has really taken to her but our other Mal can't be bothered. They all get along great and the older dogs have done a great job "teaching" her what to do in the dog world. Thank you again for breeding such quality. I get compliments wherever I go with her. I'll keep you posted as she grows.
